활기가 넘치는 런던 도심에서 한국관광공사가 선보이는 <Into a Time Frame : The Beauty of Korea> 전시에 오신 것을 환영합니다! 
한-영 수교 140주년과 ‘한국 방문의 해’를 맞아, 대한민국 문화체육관광부 선정 5대거점도시와 연계 지역의 자연 경관을 담은 아름다운 대한민국을 <Into a Time Frame : The Beauty of Korea> 전시를 통해 보여드릴 수 있게 되어 매우 기쁩니다. 다음 여행지를 고민하고 있었다면, 그 해답이 되어 줄지도 모르는 멋진 시각적 모험(visual adventure)으로 당신을 초대합니다! 

전시장 내 벽면 스크린 패널에서는 여행객의 시선에서 촬영한 5대 관광거점도시를 만나 보실 수 있습니다. 관광거점도시는 도시마다의 특색이 강렬할 뿐더러, 도시와 맞닿아 있는 인근 지역에서도 한국의 자연미와 유구한 역사를 느낄 수 있는 멋진 관광지들이 넘쳐납니다. 영상 속 한 폭의 그림 같은 한국의 관광 랜드마크로 여행해보는 기분을 만끽해보세요.

대한민국을 대표하는 미디어 아티스트 임창민의 <Into a Time Frame> 연작의 가장 두드러지는 특징은 작품마다 ‘창’이나 ‘문’이 등장한다는 것입니다. 세계 유수의 아트씬에서 약진하고 있는 임창민 작가는 전세계의 아름다운 명소들을 촬영한 사진과 영상으로 작업합니다. 작가는 바깥 풍경을 내다볼 수 있는 건물 내부를 ‘사진’으로 촬영하고, 그 안에 자연 풍경이 고요하게 흐르는 ‘영상’을 삽입해 작품을 완성합니다. 

수 백년 전 왕조의 속삭임이 들리는 듯한 창덕궁 안에서, 실제로는 350km나 떨어진 경주의 은행나무를 바라볼 수 있는 작품을 마주해 봅니다. 정교하게 결합되어 마치 한 장소 같아 보이는 이 풍경은, 한국의 유서 깊은 역사적 보물과 숨막히는 자연 경관이 직조되는 감동적인 순간을 선사합니다. 
이번 <Into a Time Frame : The Beauty of Korea> 전시가 여러분에게 앞으로 다가올 한국에서의 잊지 못할 여행의 출발점이 되기를 기대합니다.


Welcome to the exhibition <Into a Time Frame : The Beauty of Korea> presented by the Korea Tourism Organization in the vibrant heart of London!
<Into a Time Frame : The Beauty of Korea> celebrates 140 years of UK-Korea relations and the Year of Visiting Korea. We are thrilled to showcase the beauty of Korea through Five Major Tourism Hub Cities, selected by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Korea, and their adjacent regions’ remarkable natural scenery. Join us on this wonderful visual adventure that might inspire you to make Korea your next travel destination!
 
At the digital screen wall in the exhibition hall, you will find Five Major Tourism Hub Cities captured from a tourist’s point of view. Tourism Hub City is chosen not only because of its enchanting characteristic but also because the neighboring regions of the city are overflowing with captivating attractions that grasp Korea’s natural beauty and extensive history. Discover and explore Korea’s picturesque touristic landmarks through these videos.

The most striking feature of Lim Chang-min’s Into a Time Frame series is that each work features a ‘door’ or a ‘window’. Lim Chang-min, a representative of Korean media artists, has been making great advances in the global art scene. The artist works with photographs and videos of gorgeous places around the world. Lim’s artwork is completed when he inserts the video of the natural scenery, inside the photograph of a building’s interior.
 
Take a moment to appreciate the artwork that shows Changdeokgung Palace that whispers tales of past dynasties. Beyond the door inside the artwork, there lies the magnificent autumn scene of Gyeongju, which is 350 km away from the Palace. Combined with such elaboration to seem like a single place, this landscape presents a touching moment by weaving the historical treasures and breathtaking natural scenery of Korea together.
