'인스파이어 엔터테인먼트 리조트'는 아트 호스피탈리티 전문 예술 기업 '더 트리니티'와 현대미술 기획전시 ‘INSPIRE ART SERIES #1’을 개최합니다. 2차원의 평면 사진을 3차원의 조각으로 구현한 ‘사진 조각’으로 세상을 놀라게 한 아티스트 권오상의 <NEW STRUCTURE : PRISM>展입니다.
권오상작가는 무거운 물성의 전통 조각 재료 대신 ‘사진으로 만든 가벼운 조각’으로 조각 설치미술의 새로운 패러다임을 연 아티스트입니다. ‘데오도란트 타입’을 시작으로, ‘더 플랫’, ‘뉴 스트럭처’, ‘릴리프’등 사진을 기반으로 한 연작을 잇달아 발표하며, 사진 조각의 세계를 무한히 확장해왔습니다. 에르메스, 펜디, BMW 등 여러 글로벌 브랜드의 러브콜을 받는 작가는 뮤지션 GD와의 협업 작품으로, 영국 빅토리아 앤드앨버트 뮤지엄에서 열린 한류 특별전에한국 대표 아티스트로 참여하기도 했습니다.
이번전시에서 만나게 될 작품은 권오상 작가의 ‘뉴 스트럭처’ 연작에 속합니다. ‘새로운 구조’라는 뜻의 이 연작은 평면의 일상 오브제 사진들을 입체적으로 구조화하여 독특한 공간적 미장센을 구축합니다. 현대인들이 탐닉하는 시각 기호들을 사람보다 더 크게 확대하고 그 이미지들이 서로를 축으로 삼는 이 작품들은, 마치 프리즘을 통과한 한 줄기 빛이 여러 가지 색의 스펙트럼으로 교차하는 모습과 유사합니다. 조각을 둘러싼 시공간, 즉 외부 환경과 관람자들의 관계에기반하여 의미와 해석이 굴절되는 공간성이 강조되는 작품입니다.
인스파이어로툰다는 작품을 바라보는 모든 각도에서 색다른 영감을 깨우는 권오상 작가와의 첫 전시를 시작으로, ‘INSPIRE ART SERIES’를 통해 전세계 아트씬에서 활약중인 K-아티스트들을 지속적으로 소개하고, 이들의 예술적 에너지를 더 많은 관객에게 발산시킬 문화 예술의 프리즘이 될 수 있기를 기대합니다.
'Inspire Entertainment Resort' is hosting thecontemporary art exhibition 'INSPIRE ART SERIES #1' in collaboration with 'THE TRINITY,' an art hospitality specialized company. This exhibition is titled <NEW STRUCTURE : PRISM>, featuring the work of Gwon Osang, who astonished the world with his 'photo sculptures' that transform 2D photographs into 3D sculptures.
Gwon Osang is an artist known for pioneering a new paradigm in sculptural installation art with 'lightweight sculptures made from photos' instead of traditional heavy materials. Starting with 'Deodorant Type,' he has continuously expanded the realm of photo sculptures with series such as 'The Flat,' 'New Structure,' and 'Relief.' His work has attracted attention from global brands such as Hermès, Fendi, and BMW. His collaborative work with musician GD was showcased as representative Korean art in a special Hallyu exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum in the UK.
The works featured in this exhibition belong to Gwon Osang's series 'New Structure.' This series, transforms flat, everyday object photos into three-dimensional forms, creating unique spatial mise-en-scènes. Enlarging the visual symbols we indulge in today to larger-than-human scale proportions, the images build upon each other, resembling a beam of light passing through a prism and intersecting into a spectrum of colors.Each piece emphasizes the time and space that surrounds the sculpture, in other words, the spatiality where meanings and interpretations refractbased on the external environment and the viewers.
Starting with this first exhibition featuring the renowned works of Gwon Osang, which awakens inspiration from every perspective, Inspire Rotunda aims to introduce Korean artists who actively participate in the global art scene through the ‘INSPIRE ART SERIES’, and serve as a cultural prism that radiates their artistic energy to a broader audience.
